Commentary

Le Roux (1982: 197-9) disputes findspot of Emerita Augusta, claiming Baetica, probably Astigi or the region of Seville, since it is now in the musuem there. He also suggests that L. Aelius Celer died in Baetica while on an unknown technical or administrative mission. See also Palao Vicente (2006: 324) who has findspot as around Astigi. Le Roux (1982: 197) dates this to after AD 81, with recruitment under the Flavians.
