Translation

Marcus Tavonius Firmus, son of Marcus, of the Romilia tribe, with his home at Ateste, soldier of the VI legion Victrix of the century of Publius Sextus, 30 years old, 11 years service, here he lies, may the earth rest lightly upon you.

Commentary

Probably in Merida for administrative purposes (Le Roux 1982: 269). Le Roux 1982: 269; 324 dates this to the Claudian period, with recruitment under Tiberius.
