Translation

To Sulpicia of Calagurris, the most distinguished matrona, the most chaste wife, the most dutiful mother. Marcus Aelianus, her husband, and Sulpicia Aeliana, her daughter.

Commentary

There are two locations known as Calagurris in Tarraconensis, Calagurris Nassica Iulia (Pl. 246279) and Calagurris Fibularia (Pl. 246280); there is also a Calagorris / Calagurris Convenarum in Aquitania (Pl. 246278). The larger and better-documented city in Tarraconensis, Calagurris Nassica Iulia (Pl. 246279), has been selected as the most likely point of origin.
