Apparatus

The central section of this inscription has been deliberately erased but reconstructed by Alfoldy 2001(ZPE 136: 233-38). AE 1978: 430 reads L.4-8: q[uae] vixit / ann(os) LXVIII / [ornatrix ex] / domo August(i)/ Taurine[n]s(is).

Translation

To the Spirits of the Dead, to Philtates, hairdresser of C[---iae](?) Cattunilla, clarissima femina, with her home at Augusta Taurinorum, her fellow slaves (set this up).

Commentary

Philtates was enslaved by Catunilla, who brought her to Lucus Augusti.
