Translation

Sacred to the Spirits of the Dead, Marcus Marius Letus of Salacia lived 53 years. His wife (set this up) for her husband, well-deserving. Here he lies, I ask you passing by to say 'may the earth rest lightly upon you'

Commentary

There are two places known as Salacia in Iberia, one in Lusitania (Pl. 256414) and one in Tarraconensis (Pl. 236635).The larger and better-documented city, Salacia Imperatoria (Pl. 256414), has been selected as the most likely point of origin.
