Votive of Lucius Vibius Lucanus
Edition
Apparatus
L.2. Reading of final letter is unclear. HEpOnl. tentatively reads G, hence Urgavonensis. EDH tentatively reads C, which could perhaps refer to an origin at Urci. CIL 5, 853 marks only Ur+. CIL II 1424 reads Q, hence URQ. Another possibility is that this is an O. CIL II 1424 also omits the L at the beginning of the line. L. 3. CIL II 1424 reads iussit but images of the stone demonstrate that ius/sit is correct.
Translation
To Jupiter Optimus Maximus, Lucius Vibius Lucanus of Urgao (?), ordered (this statue base) to be put up according to his will out of six thousand sesterces.
Commentary
Reading of stone is unclear; mapped to Urgao, as tentatively suggested by HE, but EDH tentatively reads Urc so perhaps Urci (Pl.266085). CIL 5, 853 marks only Ur+.
